Miu Miu Spring 2010

Miu Miu was launched in 1992 by Miuccia Prada under the Italian fashion house, Prada. The line was named after Miuccia’s nickname and is positioned as a more affordable clothing line, targeted to a younger consumer. Although Miu Miu’s collection usually has more flowing shapes and earthy tones than its mother line, it stays true to the quality of Prada by sticking with simple designs and a classic look. Miu Miu’s line now consists of clothing, shoes and handbags, etc.
American model Lindsey Wixson is the new face for Miu Miu's Spring 2010 collection following many famous faces including Katie Holmes in Spring/Summer 09, Kirsten Dunst in 2008, Lindsay Lohan, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
The collection for Spring/Summer 2010 is very quirky with animal prints of cats, flowers, and birds on high-wasted mini dresses and pant suits with puffy sleeves and chunky printed shoes. One print even looks like the outline of a reclining naked woman. The collection also features beading details, especially around the bust, and cutouts that bare the chest and mid-section.

Some critics said the designs were too sensual and sexy for the younger girls this line is marketed towards, but lets be realistic...the designs are not so scandalous compared to what younger women are wearing these days. I am in my early 20's, still considered very young, and I would have no problem wearing any of these designs...even some of the sheer pieces that were noted to be hard sellers were among some of my favorites. The cutouts only show a hint of skin...the entire stomach is not exposed and the chest cutouts are above the natural breast line showing little or no cleavage. I think this should hardly even be compared to suggestive based on the low-cut V-necks I see teens wearing. At first glance the print of the nude girl is not even noticed, because Miuccia paired the print with a high-waisted skirt and button down blouse, making the outfit as a whole look classy.

I love this line. I think the designs are pretty and cute. Yes, some are a little flesh baring, but I think it makes the designs fresh and fun. Without the "suggestive" detailing the line would look too strict, rigid, and "Catholic School Girl". Plus, I like the contradiction of the designs paired with the sweet, innocent prints.

OH, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the shoes. I always do. Miu Miu shoes are always my favorite.
